Maulidur Rasul Bukit Jelutong meriah

SHAH ALAM 15 Feb. – Kira-kira 700 umat Islam termasuk murid dan pelajar sekolah menyertai perarakan sempena sambutan Maulidur Rasul peringkat Bukit Jelutong di sini semalam.

Perarakan selama kira-kira 30 minit itu melibatkan jarak hampir 500 meter bermula dari Kompleks D’Bayu dan berakhir di Masjid Bukit Jelutong.

Sepanjang perarakan itu, para peserta bersama-sama mengalunkan bacaan selawat memuji junjungan besar Nabi Muhammad SAW.

Sambutan kemudian diteruskan dengan alunan merdu burdah dan qasidah oleh jemaah Masjid Bukit Jelutong dan Maahad Tahfiz Wal Taklim selepas selesai solat maghrib.

Pengerusi Masjid Bukit Jelutong, Zainul Mohd. Diyar berkata, sambutan yang diadakan buat kali kedua lebih meriah berbanding tahun lalu dengan penyertaan pelajar sekolah di sekitar Bukit Jelutong.

“Penglibatan murid dan pelajar dari tiga sekolah iaitu Sekolah Rendah Agama Bukit Jelutong, Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Jelutong dan Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bukit Jelutong telah menyemarakkan lagi semangat penduduk.

“Sambutan kali ini juga diharapkan mengeratkan lagi hubungan sesama penduduk walaupun terdiri daripada berlainan fahaman politik,” katanya kepada Utusan Malaysia selepas majlis perarakan itu.

Sementara itu, pengerusi jawatankuasa penganjur majlis, Hadarul Hasuat berkata, tujuan sambutan tahun ini diadakan lebih awal untuk menarik golongan remaja lebih menghayati tarikh kelahiran Rasulullah.

Katanya, ia juga bagi mengelakkan mereka terjebak menyambut Hari Kekasih ciptaan Barat.

Bukit Jelutong - Etymology

104 years old Jelutong Tree besides the KL Tower.

This rare Jelutong Tree (Dyera Costulata) is 95 years old. To conserve it the position of the Tower was shifted to avoid the tree, and a series of the soldier piles was installed as a retaining wall during the foundation excavation period to prevent the tree from topping.

The conservation of the tree by perceptive planning and construction methods, incurring a total cost of RM430,000.00 permits this natural rarity to be enjoyed by yhe future generations. - Dated 1996

Thuderbirds and Sukhoi over Bukit Jelutong

Thunderbirds, the  famous air demonstration squadron of the USAF, made its appearance over the sky of Bukit Jelutong (and Subang / Shah Alam) on 3 October 2009. Together with TUDM's  Sukhoi Su-30MKM jet, they performed aerobatic formation and solo flying although it was drizzling that afternoon. Many were seen outdoors with their cameras and binoculars. Fun family outing for those with kids.   

 

LeTua 100 - Over the Hills and Far Away

On 17th January, an event called LeTua 100 - Over the Hills and Far Away was held with Bukit Jelutong playing as the host. It was actually co-organised by LeTua cyling team, Bukit Jelutong Cycling Club and the Bukit Jelutong Residents Association. I am not good at estimating but heard that there were about 800 cyclists who took part, testing their physical and mental to the limits. I was there witnessing the flagging off.

Bukit Jelutong is an upscale suburb of Shah Alam, the capital of Selangor state, Malaysia. The suburb is a planned community, with an area of over 2,200 acres (8.9 km²) and developed by Guthrie Property Holding Berhad (GPHB), the real estate development arm of Malaysian  conglomerate , Kumpulan Guthrie Bhd. Due to the suburb's upscale status, the residential units in Bukit Jelutong are mostly low-density bungalows and duplex houses, as well as some terraced houses. Bukit Jelutong has many parks and open grass areas.

Transportation

Bukit Jelutong is well-served by an excellent road network. The suburb is linked to Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, Klang and other population centers in the Klang Valley by the North Klang Expressway (NKVE), the Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE), the Federal Highway and the North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE). The expressways also link Bukit Jelutong to the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Port Klang.

Commercial

Bukit Jelutong has a small commercial center where sundry businesses and a supermarket are located. GPHB had intentionally avoided developing large-scale commercial areas to avoid traffic congestion and noise to maintain the suburb's atmosphere of serenity and exclusivity. Nonetheless, Bukit Jelutong has close proximity to the Giant and Tesco Extra hypermarkets, which are located just outside the suburb next to the GCE.

Industrial

The Bukit Jelutong Industrial Park is located in the eastern outskirts of Bukit Jelutong. It is a low-density industrial park hosting low-pollution, hi-tech industries as well as logistics warehousing and service facilities. The tenants are mostly multinational corporations  from various industries, such as Flextronics, Scania, ThyssenKrupp  and Schenker AG.

Recreation and leisure

Besides the abundance of parks, Bukit Jelutong is also notable for its proximity to several golf courses and country clubs. These include the Kelab Golf Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, the Glenmarie Golf & Country Club, the Monterez Golf & Country Club, and the Saujana Golf & Country Club. The Shah Alam Stadium is also only a 5-minute drive away from Bukit Jelutong.^]

Community

The Bukit Jelutong community has proven to be a close community judging from its regular events. The main yearly event is the Bukit Jelutong Carnival held annually. The Carnival is organised by the Bukit Jelutong Residents Association.

Bukit Jelutong Residents Association

Registered in 2002, Bukit Jelutong Residents Association is very active. Regular events benefiting the residents are held regularly. Driven entirely by volunteers who are residents of Bukit Jelutong, the association is known for its close rapport with the local authorities.
